Anyone who wants to fish in public waters must be in possession of a valid fishing permit, which can be applied for online or bought from your local post office.

Fishing maps can be obtained, that give you an overview of the public fishing places, free of charge from your Provincial Fisheries Commission.

Fishing in the 'Wijers'

Hengelhoef
The approximately 12-ha pond complex of Hengelhoef is known by fishermen at home and abroad. Carps weighing up to 15 to 18 kilograms have been known to be hooked. There are also numerous whitefish species and predatory fish, such as perch and pike. Fishing in Hengelhoef is allowed from 1 March to 30 November from sunrise to sunset.
You must be in possession of a permit and respect the regulations. A fishing subscription (including Limburgs Landschap membership fee) costs EUR 60/year for a maximum of three lines.
How to apply? Transfer EUR 60 to the account of Limburgs Landschap vzw BE28 4564 0220 0120, mentioning your surname, first name, and' fishing permit Hengelhoef'. You can expect the fishing pass through your letterbox within 10 days.

In Bokrijk, you can fish in the Great Moffert on the edge of the park.You can catch pike, tench, common rudd and common roach. You do need a fishingpermit (allowance), available from the police on the estate.

The Limburg SurfingClub (LSK) organises surfing courses on 'De Plas'. As a member, you can kayak,sup (practise Stand up Paddling) and row. There is also an adventure andclimbing trail. For surfing, sailing and diving, please contact the FlemishAssociation for Water Sports (VVW).
